'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the nail-biting closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess immediately converted the loose ball before racing off toward the East Stand to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result sealed an incredible recovery given Swansea had trailed 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. During the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. He shared, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The result secured a upcoming match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the woodwork and the opposition keeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right defensive wing after they changed formation. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the opposition who praised the way his former team approached the match.

Guardiola's System

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the basics and routine actions, they can just execute repeatedly," he explains. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they know how to manage and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then without warning they will just fizz a pass past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a tough attitude and focus just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At Orient he reunited with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in senior football on loan at his loan club from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into men's football. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without serious challenge. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has shown that development for his team and nation, excelling for Northern Ireland, who are fighting to qualify for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he manipulates the ball and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the player from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who was raised observing his parent, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for a local club.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they featured on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to conditions of bitter cold. "It was a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he transferred from aged 16? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I arrived at the moment where I understood I couldn't establish myself at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it reached a stage where I thought I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a small coach driven by academy staff, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's enjoyable to socialize with the guys but I'm hoping to be the next one out of the minibus and behind the wheel. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside supporters on public transport after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
